Auxiliary power is a critical requirement of any rolling stock vehicle. As such, ensuring your vehicles have a reliable, robust and efficient system is of great importance to us. Through our decades of experience with power electronic systems in rolling stock, our qualified engineers understand the harsh demands on such systems. We specialise in tailoring our systems to suit your exact needs, and have an engineering team both in Australia and in Germany at Vossloh Kiepe to provide pre-sales, design, installation, commissioning and after-sales support.
The products which we supply have all been designed and tested to meet applicable rolling stock standards where required, to give our customers peace of mind when choosing our power systems.
If you would like further information on any of the systems below, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We offer a large range of rugged auxiliary inverters providing AC outputs for railway applications. Our auxiliary inverters can be configured to suit your needs.
Some of the key parameters of our Vossloh Kiepe range of inverters include:
We supply the full range of Vossloh Kiepe GWL and WWL battery chargers designed and tested for rolling stock applications. They are suitable for connection to overhead line voltages from 600-3000 VDC, or 200-1500 VAC (16 2/3Hz or 50Hz), can be configured to provide output current as high as 600A. The units provide galvanic isolation and can be configured to battery charging with IU or IUoU charging characteristics for 24, 36, 72 and 110VDC.
Product characteristics include delayed potential-free contacts for monitoring the charging voltage and current, automatic deactivation on failure and automatic restart after external malfunctions are fixed.
Additionally, our units can be underfloor mounted or switch cabinet mounted, and if required we can roof mount also. One of the greatest features is that these units require no periodic maintenance.
Normally, rolling stock vehicles are equipped with a separate three-phase AC system and a DC system at the battery voltage. The Vossloh Kiepe BNU inverter provides auxiliary power for AC consumers, battery charging, and DC vehicle supply in one unit. The battery charging characteristics are programmable to suit various types of batteries, with other output power configurations customisable to suit specific project needs.
These converters are designed to cope with the mechanical and electrical loads produced by mass transit vehicles. The Vossloh Kiepe BNU inverters can be fitted on the roof or under floor in a container. Moreover, they can be mounted in cabinets located inside the vehicle.
Some of the key parameters of our Vossloh Kiepe range of combined systems include:
Axle generators can be used to supply the intermediate supply voltage to other power electronic components such as AC inverters and battery chargers, independently from the catenary or locomotive type. The AG 40 axle generator was designed by industry experts Vossloh Kiepe and Henschel to ensure a robust and reliable system is offered.
